About Portland Tuv Ha'Aretz
Portland Tuv Ha’Aretz connects Jewish teachings and traditions with sustainable food and agricultural practices, and is designed to engage all strands of the Jewish community in Portland around food, agriculture and food justice issues. Hazon, the national Jewish environmental organization dedicated to creating a healthier and more sustainable Jewish community created the Tuv Ha’Aretz project in 2004. Portland joined the network in 2009 and is honored to be one of 55 chapters in North America and Israel.

Portland Tuv Ha’Aretz is a resource and gathering place for the entire Jewish community and features an innovative series of events exploring the intersection of agriculture, ecology, food, and Jewish tradition.

One aspect of the project is to connect the Jewish community to locally grown, fresh produce through membership in Community Supported Agriculture (CSA). Portland Tuv Ha'Aretz' partner farm is Sauvie Island Organics. We encourage Portland Tuv Ha’Aretz members who are interested in a CSA membership to join Sauvie Island Organics’ CSA.
Portland Tuv Ha’Aretz is for everyone:
- For those who are members of or plan to join Sauvie Island Organics’ CSA.
- For those who are members of another CSA.
- For those who grow their own food.
- And for those who are primarily interested in and want to support the connection between Jewish teachings and sustainable agriculture.
